Very approachable book, it is recommended reading for one of the operating system grad courses at Georgia Tech. The author has a great tone, cadence, and knows how to lead the reader from basic to complex concepts without making it jarring or boring.Only downside is the Kindle version is essentially a compilation of PDFs so doesn't have traditional ebook formatting, making it somewhat tedious to navigate in that format.
One of the better Computer Science books I've read. I really like the way the authors write and introduce material. It doesn't feel like a chore to read about these topics and I feel like I come out with a solid understanding of the concepts. I'm using this book for a Graduate level Introduction to Operating Systems course, but I would recommend it for undergraduates or anyone wanting to learn about OSes as well.

This book explains three most important abstractions in computing: resource, process and a file!
There's good textbooks like Patt's introduction to computing book that I really learned alot from. Then there are tet books like this one, where I got it for the class but collects dust. At most, it's a fair reference, which is almost all textbooks. So Good Rating.
Quick tip - google search it. I'm in Remzi's OS course, he put it online for free. He wanted it to be cheap, look for it in a store.
