For someone like me who can't tell business casual from business appropriate from business formal? This book is indispensable. The book's best features are its pictures and detailed lists of what's kosher and what's not, and of course, what people think of X, Y, and Z clothing. Granted, I will be making my own changes and tweaks to the suggestions, but I think this is the best set of guidelines I have ever seen for navigating the strange world of corporate attire, and as someone who has always had problems discerning when to wear what, this book is a godsend. I will be keeping this to refer to for the next 30 years (the rest of my career; I'm in the corporate audit/accounting field).

This book does an excellent job of getting you from nothing to wear to a closet of every possible wardrobe nessessity for the office. The organization is fantastic, going from one interview outfit and then starting a collection of business appropriate clothing based on four suits. Great book for someone getting a promotion, returning to work after a leave of absense, or a new college graduate.

If you've been in the workforce a while then it can be used to enhance your wardrobe. The tips are abundant, the language clear with lots of illustrations. It's a good gift for any college graduate and the male version is good too. Of course job culture is always evolving and sometimes the book can appear dated. In conclusion, this book is a good place to start a professional looking wardrobe but common sense is also needed to fit the adivce to the specific character of your workplace.

A bit dated right now, but ideal for one going into a very conservative office situation/ courtroom situation. if you are not "good at clothes" follow these rules and you will always be comfortable and well-dressed in any setting.

MARYS TODAY for the Civil Rights action brought by Levine Sullivan Koch & Schultz on my behalf - James Rouse, who was an executive with one of the largest media firms in the nation and former provost of Stanford, summarized the newspaper this way. He said he had never seen a newspaper with revenue from readers outweighing revenue from advertisers. That conclusion supported our slogan - Dedicated to Our Readers - When I sold the newspaper in 2010, the new owner appeared to have the financial ability and determination to continue the newspaper. He ran into various legal troubles and closed the newspaper eight months later. Anytime he wishes to return it to publication, I will be glad to assist him. In the meantime, I heard from many in the region wishing that actual news instead of pabulum from local media be reported. I heard from many folks elsewhere, outside of Southern Maryland, and beginning in the spring of 2014, my monthly publication, THE CHESAPEAKE was morphed into THE CHESAPEAKE TODAY and now covers crime in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia in print monthly and online always. That was just the beginning, before long the newspaper would be the target of an organized effort by a county sheriff and his deputies ad a candidate for states attorney to clean the newspaper off the newsstands the night before an election and results in a landmark First Amendment case which is now the law of the land."We can see this story is a story of a dying breed of newspapermen and women. There are newspapermen and then there are those who do not candy coat the news. This is when a newspaper took a side and the editorial staff didn't worry about the fallout. They called it like they saw it and showed the public what was wrong with the system, be it with drug dealers, unsavory politicians or corrupt businessmen. They were exposed and brought to justice. Ken Rossignal did a great job of showing it like it is and how newspapers should be run.

I have read quite a few of author Ken Rossignol's books and have to say that I have found "The Story of THE RAG!" to be one of the most interesting and enjoyable reads so far. I love little-known history and this story is a riveting one. The fact that Rossignol himself plays a big part in it is also quite intriguing.This book recounts the history of a small-town newspaper in Maryland that was run much different than any other. Pretty much a one-man show, run by Rossignol, the St. Mary's Today newspaper was known for its flashy tabloid-esque headlines and no-holds-barred news reporting. Readers seemed to love it, unless they were the ones being reported on. This is where the controversy arose. One story in particular, about a decades-old rape involving a now candidate for states attorney caused much contention. In fact, after a late night raid by a posse of deputies of all of the news stands just before the election, things got interesting. With the FBI now involved, Constitutional rights came into question.This was a fascinating account, not only of an interesting news story that I found pretty disturbing, but also of the rights of the newspaper to report the news as it saw it years later. The publisher's motives were called into question at every turn and this isn't surprising when people, good or bad, are fighting for their political lives. Another well written and fascinating account from Rossignol.

A fascinating read on how a small-town newspaper came to be!I have to say, although I knew nothing of this paper ("The Rag") and had no connection to it, the story was gripping nonetheless; I found myself eager to learn more about it. Ken Rossignol has, and willingly shares, an abundance of interesting stories about his newspaper.Definitely the reader will find some funny incidents and some somber ones to connect to. On occasion I was genuinely concerned for the welfare of the people Ken told about! There were some pretty scary situations, actually. We're talking about dealing with gritty events and shady people; drugs, murders, abuse, and more "dark side" matter.NOTE to the discerning reader: In addition to some of the topics mentioned above, there is on occasion some vulgar words, or references to them.I actually had both the audiobook and ebook version of The Story of the Rag. I decided to listen to the book as audio, but then I would flip through the ebook later for all the pictures and newspaper "toons" -- which really help to tie the whole book together. Both the audiobook and ebook make for a great-quality read -- no matter which YOU pick!Overall? Ken told about it ALL in a compelling way. He got me entangled in The Rag by the end, that's for sure.

I found it astonishing that Ken Rossignol managed to keep 'The Rag' ( St. Mary's Today Newspaper) going as long as he did, considering the style of writing he's used for this book. What should have/could have been an amazing tour de force of journalistic investigation and ethics, turns into a barely readable collection of anecdotes that omits so much of the "6 W's", I was forced to wonder how anything happened that honestly changed the system of "good old boy" cronyism in local Maryland politics.

As a former small town newspaper publisher myself, who was known for stepping on toes and exposing what public official's hand was caught in the cookie jar or under the wrong skirt, I related very well to Ken Rossignol's great book, The Rag. I've dealt with many of the same type of corrupt elected and appointed officials, including a county sheriff who stood in my office and swore to stop my car and shoot me dead some dark night.If you've ever wondered what it was like to peel the thin veneer of civility off a small town and look underneath, this book will do the trick. Ken Rossignol is the kind of courageous newspaperman I admire, and that I'd love to sit down and swap war stories with.Be warned, don't start this book unless you have time to finish it, because it is a fascinating read that I didn't want to put down. The only problem I had with the book was that on my Kindle, the editorial cartoons were hard to see, and they were very much a part of the newspaper's character. This is a problem with the basic Kindle, and they showed up much better on my iPad. But don't let that stop you, as I said, the story is fascinating.

Love these books. My son, who is 9 has been reading them for a little over a year now and this book is wonderful. I must say that this one is not one of his favorites. He is a history junkey, lol. He so far seems to love the Jackie Robinson, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Robert E Lee, What is the world series the best as a 8 and 9 year old.I also read these to him in the evenings and I really enjoy them as a 40 year old father. I have learned so much from them as well. Sometimes I read them before or after my son in order to have an educated discussion with him about the subject of the book. I really also get alot out of them as well.

I'm baffled by some comments made here by people who are disappointed that this is a children's book. "Age Range: 8 - 12 years" is clearly listed in the details listed for the book.My daughter is 5 1/2 -- too young for this book, you would think, but she stumbled onto Queen Elizabeth in one of my history magazines and began peppering me with loads of questions about her. Finally I bought and read this book aloud to my daughter, and she adores it! We must be into our third or fourth reading of it now, and her curiosity continues.That's not to detract from the age range recommendation; I think an 8-year-old would respond well to this book. The fact that it actually appeals to a 5-year-old is proof of the strong storytelling in this narrative, I think. Well done!

I bought these for my third grade classroom. They are great for the biography genre and then to use for report writing. The three years I've used them so far the kids LOVED them. Easy for their reading levels, informative, and people they have heard of in their lives. They would read their own and then read other that they had heard of. Could have left these books out 1/2 year and they would have still been reading them.

This book should be part of high school curriculum. Too many people have no idea how to maintain a budget or save.This book makes it so very simple.Besides budgeting, what I really liked about the structure of the book was the complexity of problems and solutions presented that all relate to a bad budget. Let me put it this way:- the book starts with talking about bad shopping, hoarding, and spending habits, the main reasons people end up with a negative balance at the end of the month. Sure, other things contribute to a bad budget as well like no financial education and such but bottom line, you only end up without money if you spend it. right?- then she goes through building up a budget for oneself, giving many options. so you can cherry pick. I liked the 50 20 30 method, the Dave Ramsey method, the categorizing method. She talks about other aspects of financial literacy such as how much of your monthy income should go for housing, how much for maintaining a car etc. I have my own house so that part wasn’t very relevant to me but anyway, it was an informative section of the book.- she closes the book with a few chapters talking about a mindset shift in life that will bring you to financial peace, less bad habits regarding spending and more happiness into your life.I think the book is an a-z manual for those who not only want to learn to budget but also understand the hidden patterns of money mismanagement AND want to improve their life for the better overall.

If you want a book that tells you in detail about compulsive shopping and about hoarding, this is it. I was really looking for some ideas about economizing and cutting back a bit. I think maybe this is a good book for somebody who's just out of control.

This book was a very interesting read as I consider myself a compulsive spender and it really made me look at my overspending. It help me put together a budgeting plan so I can stay out of debt, it's not one of those plans you see suggested by "Youtube millionaires" who never had to financial struggle a day in their life. Since reading I have started working on build my emergency fund and it feels like I'm on a straight path to wealth, I'll get there one day is the positive thinking you should have and realizing that overspending is a serious addiction. I recommend everyone giving this book a good read it might just change their life.

The book touches on a few main topics, shopping habits,hoarding,budgeting and getting out of debt. The budgeting chapter was most relevant to me. I like how it was short and to the point. The author gives you a couple of different techniques. I have read many budgeting books which go on and on and on until you lose interest. This is not one of those!!

Most of this book is bunk. I loved it as a kid, but now that I'm older and know more about the events it describes, I used the book to teach my kids about the influence of society at the time of a books writing (a book with a female protagonist will only be read by girls, and therefore must have romance) and the dangers of taking historical fiction novels as historical fact.

This was purchased for a book to read for school. We read it out loud at home so all siblings could enjoy it. This was a great historical fiction book that helps make history come alive for both children and adults. We have enjoyed all the Scott O'Dell books we have read so far. His writing style is such that it is hard to stop and put the book down once you start reading it. We have read several books that have received the Newbery Medal Award, which is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year. We have not been disappointed by any books we have read with the Newbery Award or a runner-up Newbery Award. All have been great quality writing.

An easy and interesting read! A true gift to have the journals of Lewis & Clark available to use, so we can read of their amazing trek, and so gifted writers can bring those journals to life for us.

This author takes historical people and events and creates a story to go along with it. My son, who is 12, loves this author so much we have purchased every book written by him. They have kept his attention, and he has reread several. My son's time and energy going into a book instead of an electronic device, can't ask for much more!

Excellent story. I love the strength that the author gave Sacajawea. It was a clear look of strength in spirit, character and physical ability that she displayed. What a fantastic role model for our children, and especially our girls.

Quick and interesting easy read. The ending kind of leaves it just hanging, but overall a good book. Would be good for kids to read.
